Managing Director - Training/Lean Manufacturing Consultancy

Part of a listed plc, the company is recognised as a leading training provider and specialist in lean manufacturing education.  It has an excellent track record of delivering training and consultancy programmes which have enabled its diverse range of clients to significantly improve performance and profitability.  It now seeks a high calibre, results-driven professional to lead and deliver the company’s sales and growth strategy.

The Challenge:

To provide strategic and operational direction to the 30+ employees.

To lead and direct the sales team whilst playing an active role in securing new contracts and focusing on increasing consultancy sales.

To position the company as a strategic partner to Further Education Colleges and to companies throughout a wide range of manufacturing sectors.

To build and maintain close working relationships with key influencers and decision-makers in the FE sector.

To be fully conversant with the various mechanisms to fund training and submit bids which will enable the company to maximise sales opportunities.

To identify and develop new products and tools which will allow the business to strengthen its position in the market, whilst maximising the synergies created by working in partnership with other group companies.

The Candidate:

You should currently be operating in a senior management capacity with excellent levels of commercial acumen and strategic orientation which have enabled you to lead your organisation within a results-driven and fast-moving environment.

Although not essential, a good understanding of the UK training and consultancy sector, together with various funding options for training, would be particularly advantageous.

You should be capable of identifying and exploiting profitable new business opportunities.

You will be able to react quickly to reposition the business as necessary in response to changes in the external environment.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and influencing skills which will allow you to build effective working relationships at all levels with funding providers and client companies.

Proven leadership skills will be evident and will enable you to motivate and inspire your team towards improved performance.
