With sales of c£75m and c200 employees, this 24/7 continuous process business is the UK flagship manufacturing operation of this major international group.  Its key performance metrics – HS&E, yield, quality and productivity – is recognised as the best in class owing to the outstanding levels of commitment from its employees.  It is now seeking to strengthen its engineering function with this key appointment. 

The Challenge:

To ensure the provision of first-class mechanical engineering support to the site with direct responsibility for two specific plants.

To identify, plan and coordinate system and process improvements which lead to increased reliability and plant performance.

To manage capital improvement projects ensuring the achievement of cost and timescale targets.

To ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and to maintain the highest standards of HS&E performance.

To identify training requirements of the engineering support staff and to ensure that these are met through coaching or formal training, leading to the development of a highly skilled and responsive team.

To work in close partnership with and to provide an excellent support service to the manufacturing function – your internal customer.

 

The Candidate:

Your Mechanical Engineering qualification will either be at degree level or alternatively, HNC or HND, having undertaken an engineering apprenticeship. 

Should be able to demonstrate strong organisational, planning and coordination skills.

Should preferably have gained your experience within a demanding, continuous process environment.

Must have experience of managing capital projects and will have worked in an organisation committed to World-Class Manufacturing (WCM)/Continuous Improvement.

You will be able to demonstrate improved levels of performance through the application of preventative maintenance (PM) systems.

You will be ambitious and self-motivated with the desire to progress your career. 

You should be totally committed to achieving the highest standards of HS&E performance.
